The office of the vice-president, academic and provost (VPA), has discontinued the associate vice-president, academic (AVPA) search announced earlier this year and is developing an interim leadership model to support the team while a search for a new VPA is conducted.

As part of this interim leadership model, Kevin Oldknow has been appointed as senior advisor to the provost beginning August 15, 2022 and continuing for two years. During that time, Kevin will report to Wade Parkhouse, and will work on key areas of academic planning, program developments, and will assist with budgetary matters.

Kevin is an associate professor and has served as the director of SFU’s School of Sustainable Energy Engineering since its inception. He was an associate dean of Undergraduate Studies in the Faculty of Applied Sciences from 2017 to 2019. And he has held a number of senior engineering positions in industry, including several at the vice-president level. He joined SFU in 2012.
