Search Timeline

The search for a new dean can be a lengthy process. A consultative process with significant participation from stakeholders is essential to ensuring the search committee finds and recommends the best candidate to lead the Faculty of Science. Input provided by our faculty, staff, students and community partners is invaluable and the timeline below (expand toggle) describes your opportunities to participate.

September 2017: Members of the search committee are elected, selected, and appointed according to Policy A13.05.

Thursday, October 26, 2017: An Open Forum takes place from 9:30am - 11:00am in WAC Bennett Library, room 7200; Surrey campus, room 3040; and Harbour Centre, room 2270. 

Mid November 2017: The position description will be finalized and a call for applications will be made.

December 2017 - February 2018: Potential candidates are identified and discussed by the search committee. 

Mid March 2018: Interviews are held for shortlisted candidates.

(Date updated to) April 3, 2018: The search committee recommends the preferred candidate to the President.

Open Meeting - November 1

Due to an error with the original commnication for the search, Vice-President, Academic and Provost Dr. Peter Keller held another meeting with the community on Wednesday, November 1st.

At this meeting, Dr. Keller invited input from the community on the qualities, characteristics, opportunities, and challenges of the next Dean.
