JUSTICE, EQUITY, AND INCLUSION Supports for WIL Staff

Welcome! Co-op program staff and WIL practitioners are crucial in advancing justice, equity, and inclusion for students, employers, and community partners. We know this work isn’t easy, and you aren’t alone. Whether you have students with questions about discrimination, exclusion, and inequities, are hoping to support an employer to offer more empowering Co-op or WIL opportunities, or are looking to improve your practice regarding equity and inclusion issues, we are here to help. • Advice on JEI Topics: We recognize that WIL staff often need to deal with issues relating to equity and inclusion, and that this can be an especially challenging aspect of the job. We are here to support you when navigating these issues. Feel free to contact us for support.
• Accessibility Report: Expanding Work-Integrated Learning Opportunities with an Accessibility Approach. Developed in partnership with ACE-WIL, this project was designed to investigate the gap in students’ participation in postsecondary institutions’ (PSIs) WIL programs and the need for a targeted approach to increase employment opportunities for students with disabilities (SWD).
• Foundations of Intercultural Development is designed to help connect you with a community of learning focused on building intercultural engagement skills, developing cultural awareness, and empowering participants in equitable and inclusive practices.
• iHub Toolkit: Advancing Justice, Equity, diversity and Inclusion (JEDI). Created as a collaboration between the SFU WIL JEI Team and ACE-WIL, this toolkit provides employers and community partners with strategies for advancing JEDI in the workplace.

• Bullying and Harassment Central Hub is committed to creating a safe and respectful environment for everyone.
• Critical Incident Support provides resources, supports and tips to assist those impacted by a traumatic event.
• Employee and Family Assistance Program (EFAP) provides confidential assistance to SFU staff and their family members to resolve problems that affect personal and work lives.
• Human Rights Office (HRO) administers the Human Rights policies and procedures. 
  
• San'yas Anti-Racism Indigenous Cultural Safety Training is an on-line training program designed to enhance one's self-awareness, knowledge, and skills to foster and promote positive relationship building with Indigenous Peoples.
• Sexual Violence Support and Prevention Office offers confidential and free supports to SFU staff who have been impacted by sexual violence. 
• Support for SFU’s Multilingual Learning and Teaching Community. Offered by the Center for Educational Excellence’s (CEE) English as an Additional Language Initiative (EAL) team, this resource offers holistic support and strategies for SFU’s multilingual community.

• BCCIE: Intercultural Dialogue Series Hosted by the BC Centre for International Education, this online dialogue series invites participants to earn a certificate of completion by learning and exploring new ways of knowing. 
• Correct Name Pronunciation with Audio - The Name Engine. A tool for correct name pronunciations with audio.
• Dismantle Collective: White Allyship 101: Resources to Get to Work. Created by the Dismantle Collective, this tool helps white allies understand issues surrounding white supremacy and racism. It is a starting point for engaging in analysis, education and action on anti-racism. 
• MyPronouns is a tool to learn about personal pronouns and why they matter.
• Pronounce Names is an online dictionary of name pronunciations.
• Reconciliation Canada: Kitchen Table Guide for Reconciliation Dialogue. Created by Reconciliation Canada, this toolkit provides guidance on the creation for safe and constructive dialogues on the topics of truth and reconciliation. 
• Resources and calls to action against anti-Black racism and violence provides a list of actions and resources for anyone looking to incorporate anti-racism into their everyday interactions.
• The Micropedia of Microaggressions. This online tool is a collaborative project dedicated to creating a judgement-free opportunity to learn more about microaggressions. 
• Words Matter: Guidelines on Using Inclusive Language in the Workplace. Created by the BC Public Service, this guide sets out some key guiding principles and suggestions to support using inclusive language in the workplace. 
• Your Journey: A Career Guide for Trans and Non-Binary Students. This guide is designed to support trans and non-binary students navigating their work search and applying for jobs.
