Formal requirements
Typed, double-spaced, with reasonable sized font (11 or 12 point) and margins (1-1.25 inches).  The length should be about 3 pages – at least 800 words, but not more than 1200.

The top of your essay should include your name, the name of your tutorial leader, and your tutorial number (you can look up your tutorial number on go.sfu.ca, if you don’t know).  Please, no title pages (save the trees)

Thesis Statement
Your essay must have a thesis statement.  The thesis statement must come at the top of your paper before your introductory paragraph.

So, the start of your paper will look like this:

Name
Tutorial leader; D1.0X

Title of Paper

Thesis statement:  Based on Singer’s moral principle, the parents of conjoined twins, Mary and Jodie, have a moral obligation to have the twins surgically separated.

Now the paper begins with a very brief introductory paragraph followed by the body of the essay.
