Project Overview

Title: DDOS Attack on Wireless Network

Group 6: Jerry Fu, Nathaniel Huang

Abstract

The project is a simulation of the flooding DDOS attack and the ping of death DDOS attack on wireless networks. The objective is the examine the result of both DDOS attacks under different scenarios and compare their similarities to conclude both attacks' characteristics. The different scenarios are created by varying the attacker quantity and building corresponding ethernet networks. By examining the queuing delay from the database server and the throughput from the user accessing the database server one can conclude that flooding attacks affect the throughput of the users and the queuing delay of the targeted network components. Increasing the capacity of the targeted components or reserving enough resources when operating the network can help reduce the severity of the DDOS attacks.
