Signals

Two kinds of signals can be distinguished in the context of electroacoustic music production:

control signals, and audio signals.

 

Control signals are used to continuously control other devices or to cause them to change state in some way (on, off, more, less, etc.).

Audio signals are audio frequency signals which are meant to ultimately be sent to loudspeakers and heard as sound.
