Applications
Our research focuses on developing design optimization methods and tools that are practical, powerful, and usable for complex engineering design. Our applications include modeling and optimizing a power network for Manitoba Hydro (Pictures 1 and 2), diffuser design optimization for E.H. Price Ltd., silencer design automation for Philips and Temro Industries, and many others.

Algorithms
Our algorithms feature Mode Pursing Sampling (MPS) for global optimization, Pareto Set Pursing (PSP) for multiobjective optimization, and new generation of tools such as trust-region based MPS, and so on. The video shows the optimization process of PSP capturing the Pareto Frontier.

Healthcare Process Optimization
Our optimization algorithms have not only been applied to manufacturing sectors, but also the healthcare industries. The left shows a simulation of the surgery process in a hospital, funded by Winnipeg Region Health Authority. We have also worked for St. Paul's Hospital in Vancouver to model and improve its Emergency Department.
