Description/topics

This is a hands-on studio course that builds on the skills gained in FPA 265 (Photography I). The course considers contemporary photographic practice as it pertains to visual art. The course concentrates on: refining camera, lighting, compositional and conceptual approaches to shooting and presenting photographic works of art; using photography as part of a broader art practice; digital correction and manipulation of the photographic image using Photoshop; introduction to medium and large format photography. Students will be assigned a series of projects which utilize the skills being developed as well as provide an opportunity to explore individual initiatives. In conjunction with the acquisition of technical skills, this course will emphasize content, creative process and critical issues in photographic practice.

Grading:TBA
