Read:
  • A. Leon-Garcia and I. Widjaja: Chapter 1: Communication Networks and Services
  • Read the section SOFTWARE TOOLS from the ENSC 427 home page.
  • Install one option for running tools remotely.
  • Set up your login environment and run OPNET and ns-2.
  • Chose your tool for remote login
  • Send to ljilja at cs.sfu.ca your project teams: Please include student IDs, full names (last name, first name), and email addresses of all team members.
  • Browse thoroughly the ENSC 427 home page and the WEB SITES OF INTEREST.
  • Work on the topic for your final project.

  • Procedure that you installed for remote login.

  • Read the paper: "A Brief History of the Internet" by Barry M. Leiner, Vinton G. Cerf, David D. Clark, Robert E. Kahn, Leonard Kleinrock, Daniel C. Lynch, Jon Postel, Lawrence G. Roberts, and Stephen Wolff.
    Provide brief summary of the Internet history.

  • Locate the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) web page. Read the Request for Comments (RFC) 2026: "The Internet Standards Process" by S. Bradner.
    Provide a brief description of:
    - Internet Standards
    - RFCs and Internet Drafts
    - Standards Track Maturity Levels.
    Note: Limit your answer to one page. Please type your report.

  • Include the cover page. It should only include course title (ENSC 427: COMMUNICATION NETWORKS), term (Spring 2013), assignment number, your full name (last name, first name), and your SFU email address.
