ENSC 835: COMMUNICATION NETWORKS

Assignment #2:

Read:
  • Kurose and Ross: Chapter 1: Computer Networks and the Internet
  • Walrand and Varaiya: Chapter 1: Overview.

  • Begin working on the OPNET Tutorials. Run OPNET and find link to Tutorials under the Help menu. Open the Tutorial page. Select the appropriate tutorial from the menu located on the left-hand side of the page.
        Tutorials > Basic Tutorials > Modeler Tutorials:
        1. Introduction
        2. Small Internetworks
        3. LAN Modeling
    Note: You may have to make selections using the links located on the left-hand side of the page rather than links displayed in the main portion of the window.
    Modeler Reference material is available from the menu located on the left-hand side of the page.

  • Submit OPNET printouts illustrating the seven steps of "Tutorial 2. Small Internetworks" and the seven steps of "Tutorial 3. LAN Modeling." Briefly describe the main steps. Include time-stamps on the printouts.
    Limit your submission to six pages: the cover page plus five typed pages. The cover page should only include course title (ENSC 835: COMMUNICATION NETWORKS), term (Spring 2011), your full name (last name, first name), and your SFU email address. Double-sided printouts are encouraged.

  • Send your project teams (please include student IDs, full names, and email addresses) to ljilja at cs.sfu.ca.
  • Prepare a paragraph describing the topic of your final project.
