R/S statistics

• For almost all naturally occurring time series, the rescaled adjusted range statistics (also called the R/S statistics) for sample size n obeys the relationship:

• S(m) is the standard deviation
• Wk = (X1 + X2 + … + Xk) - kE[X(m)], k= 1, 2, …, m
