Data enters in the form of bytes at the rising edge of the clock
A frame pulse signal marks the beginning of each packet
Input port module:
- Stores the packets
- Looks up & updates packet headers
- Sends a request to the Scheduler
Scheduler:
- Has a fair “diagonal propagation arbiter” (DPA) [Lin 99] architecture
- Receives requests and sends grants to some/all inputs
- Configures the fabric
