Impact of traffic characteristics on teletraffic engineering
Traffic generated by new services (voice, data, image, video…) available in current data networks differs from traffic patterns observed in circuit switched voice networks.
New traffic models different from traditional Poisson models are required.
Self-similarity was established in a wide range of traffic traces in wired data networks.
Using measurements made on an operating CDPD network, our initial findings indicate that the CDPD traffic traces exhibit some degree of self-similarity.
