Throughput and utilization
Throughput is the number of bits per second transferred between two stations in the network.
It is the maximum bit rate for the given packet size.
Utilization is the ratio between the actual and the maximum network throughput.
For the fixed packet size (constant bit rate streams), lowering the utilization increases the interpacket gap.
Utilization [%] = actual packet rate/line rate.
