• The EQM communicates with IQMs across the the switching matrix using the EXACT protocol.

• The EQM schedules traffic from competing IQMs.

• The EQM passes the payload fragments to the Transmit Controller.

• The Transmit Controller reassembles the Ethernet frames

• The Media Access Controller (MAC) transmits the Ethernet frames.
