EQM’s fair queuing features
Credit accumulators saturate at a programmable limit value
- Limits a previous idle queue from gather enough credits to dominate the port for a long period of time.
- Programmable limit value controls the maximum burst size for a class of service in a service round.
- Setting the saturation value (limit) equal to the credit grant value (weight) will produce a memoryless system that is fair only within the context of a service round.
This queuing allowed the EQM to be is realized in a relatively small area of silicon (70K gates + 1024 bits RAM).
