RIP: Split Horizon

• Basic split horizon

  • Do not send the entire routing table, i.e.,
  • Do not advertise a destination to the router that is next hop for that destination

• With poisoned reverse

  • Send a modified routing table, i.e.,
  • Advertise with “metric = infinity” the destinations that would have been omitted using the basic split horizon
