Integrated Services (IntServ)
Architecture that provides QoS in Internet, proposed by the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF).
IntServ provides absolute end-to-end QoS guarantees to individual flows.
Requires admission control and Resource Reservation Protocol (RSVP) signaling.
Major drawbacks:
- scalability problem (maintains per-flow state in routers)
- implementation complexity (management, accounting)
