- SS7 protocol stack consists of four layers.
- Three lowest levels are combined into one set of protocols, called the Message Transfer Part (MTP).
- MTP is split into layers 1 through 3.
- Layer 4 consists of:
- Signaling Connection Control Part (SCCP)
- Transaction Capabilities Application Part (TCAP)
- Telephone User Part (TUP)
- ISDN User Part (ISUP)
- Intelligent Network Application Protocol (INAP)
