Starting in September 2011, we've been working on an installation project for children designed to be used in a variety of educational settings. Our focus is to provide an interface that encourages discovery and promotes learning about the subtle relationships between living things.

Rather than trying to mirror nature precisely, our project is an artistic and visually pleasing representation. This abstraction of nature provides us additional benefits:

• an artistic licence to create an environment that is unique and interesting for children to explore.
• a way to simplify and clearly represent the scientific and mathematical ideas that govern our natural world.
