Dining Hall Printing - Installing the Printer DriverInstalling the other
necessary bits to print to the Dining Hall printer will be described next, using
WindowsXP for the examples. Windows 7/Vista is similar.

1. Download the printer driver from here.
Then unzip it, as you did for the Papercut driver. Remember the location of the unzipped files .. you'll need them in a minute. |

| 3. Open Add/Remove Programs (for Windows XP) or Programs and Features (Vista/Windows7) | ![]() |
| 4. Click on Add/Remove Windows Components (Windows XP) or Turn Windows features on or off (Windows7) This could take a minute; don't panic. | ![]() |

5a. Windows XP: Locate Other Network File and Print
Services.
If there is not a check make there, add one. Then click Next and go to step 6. |

5b. Windows 7: Locate Print and Document
Services.
Expand it by clicking on the + sign. If there is not a check mark beside LPD Print Service, add one. If there is not a check mark beside LPR Port Monitor, add one. Click OK. |

6. Things will happen.
Windows7 will just silently quit; no worries. WindowsXP will show the screen here; click Finish. |

| 7. Open Printers and Faxes (WindowsXP) or Devices and Printers (Windows7) | ![]() |
| 8. Click Add a printer. | ![]() |
| 9. WindowsXP, click Next. | ![]() |

10. Select Local printer ...
WindowsXP, uncheck "Automatically detect ..." |

11. Select Create a new port, and from the drop
down menu, pick LPR Port.
Click Next. |

12. In the first field, Name or address,
type in as shown
papercut10.mps.sfu.ca In the second field, Name of printer, type in (as shown) Dining Hall Note the space between Dining and Hall (very important) Click OK. |

| 13. Click Have Disk ... | ![]() |
| 14. Browse to where you unzipped the files in step 1. (I warned you to remember) | ![]() |

15. Open the appropriate directory and select KOAYXJ_. The click
Open.
Win_x86 is most likely the right directory for Windows XP and could be the right directory for Windows7. Win_x64 is the right directory for any 64 bit operating system. There are very few 64 bit versions of Windows XP; but a 64 bit version of Windows 7 is not that rare. If you don't know, pick Win_x64; Windows will just complain if you're wrong and you can pick the x86 folder instead. |

18. Give the printer a name.
(Hint: Dining Hall Printer would be a good name) Click Next. |

| 19. You do not want a test page just now; select No and then click Next. | ![]() |

20. If you are asked about "Printer
Sharing", click Do not share and
then click Next.
Then click Finish. |

21. Tada, a printer!
Assuming you have funds in your Papercut Dining Hall account, you should now be able to print. |
