1. Plagiarism Seminar Begins Today!
.......................................................
Dates: 10 - 30 March, 2003
Moderator: Steve Scadding

Plagiarism is certainly in the news! A number of notable cases have been
reported in the press in recent months. What can educational institutions do
to detect and prevent plagiarism?

Please join us for this important seminar which focuses on defining the real
issues, dealing with the problems, and ultimately promoting a culture of
academic integrity in our institutions.

About our facilitator...
Steve Scadding began developing and teaching online courses in 1997 in his
home Department of Zoology at University of Guelph, Ontario, Canada. He
received the 2000 Faculty Association Award of Excellence in Teaching, which
included recognition for the innovative use of emerging instructional
technologies. Steve has been researching and experimenting with plagiarism
detection tools in his large online cell biology course.

unique to online learning, revisited traditional practices that present
barriers for our online student population, and discussed possible
solutions.

Thanks for the great response to our recent GEN member survey! 196 responses

directions for the future of GEN.
