"On Tuesday, Buckingham, the executive director of the University of Saskatchewan’s school of public health, wrote a letter to the provincial government and opposition to say the university president was threatening to cut professors’ tenures short if they spoke out about the controversial TransformUS plan.
Within 12 hours of the letter being made public, Buckingham said he was asked to attend a meeting with the provost. The meeting at 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday last little more than 15 seconds, said Buckingham. He said was told he had breached his employment contract and was fired as a tenured professor. Buckingham said he was then escorted off campus by two campus protective services officers and told never to return to campus."

Adrienne Rich, "
Letter to Jane Alexander Refusing the National Medal for the Arts" in 1997
