Rather than restoring legislation protecting citizens and NGOs from SLAPP (
Strategic lawsuit against public participation) suits, the BC Liberal government is poised to pass legislation making it much easier for corporation to use that tactic. The brief period for public comment on the proposed legislation is past, but the NDP opposition has organized an on-line petition against the bill, which might be passed in the current legislative session which ends tomorrow.
