Of possible interest: Gain unique insight into latest data from Aboriginal People’s Survey

Hi Everyone,

The following may be of interest to those working with Statistics Canada data, especially the Aboriginal Peoples Survey and the National Household Survey.

The SFU Library is pleased to host Mikelle Sasakamoose, Advisor, Aboriginal Liaison Program, Statistics Canada who will provide an overview on data available for First Nations, Métis, and Inuit from the 2012 Aboriginal People’s Survey and the 2011 National Household Survey.

On November 25, 2013, new data were released from the 2012 Aboriginal Peoples Survey, describing the education and employment characteristics of First Nations people living off reserve, Métis, and Inuit aged 6 years and older. This survey also collected information on health, language, income, housing and mobility.

Data from the 2011 National Household Survey, released throughout 2013, will also be highlighted with a focus on Aboriginal peoples.

When: 1:30 p.m to 4:30 p.m, 11 March 2015

Where: Room 7010, Research Commons, W.A.C. Bennett Library, SFU Burnaby

Registration: Seating is limited; please email Mikelle.Sasakamoose@statcan.gc.ca to register for this presentation.

A question and answer period will follow the presentation.

Note a similar event is being held tomorrow at SFU Vancouver by Public Policy (I think), Room 7000 from 1:00 - 4:00.

Best,

Carla Graebner
