Louis Riel House Success! Join a follow-through committee?

Dear colleagues,

WOW! 165 signatures in 24 hours! This is spectacular. A great first step.

The next step is to follow through, to keep the pressure on the administration. Would some of you be willing to join me on such a committee? This will be a minimal commitment, I promise. I would simply like to open a channel of communication with the appropriate parties and keep checking in with them until the situation is resolved. Otherwise, much like the TSSU issue -- despite meaningful faculty support to pressure the admin to negotiate with the union nothing meaningful has happened in the past YEAR of negotiations -- we must keep some pressure on if we have any hope of seeing housing made available for these folks in August, and for future folks who want to come study here at SFU. Those of you at the rally yesterday will have noted how "international" the crowd. Many of the residents are not just hard-working economically stretched students, they are international students, too.

PLEASE REPLY ONLY TO ME echenier@gmail.com . DO NOT REPLY ALL.

Thanks, Elise

Dear Administrators:

I have attached a letter signed by 165 faculty members about the crisis regarding the Louis Riel House closure.  These signatures were collected yesterday in support of the SFU administration providing continued housing at SFU for those displaced by this closure.

Could you please see that it is received by the President and members of the Board of Governors.

Sincerely,

Marjorie
