Re: Queen’s announcement on mandatory COVID-19 vaccinations - from my sister

Thanks for sharing Lyn

so it seems legally possible.
it would seriously help protect our students, faculty, staff, and community (including those who really cannot get vaccinated, or are vulnerable...), and not interfere with instruction (even much less than masks or any other measure really) - so what are we still waiting for?
I really hope SFU will step up and dare to provide a safe environment for everybody

Subject: Queen’s announcement on mandatory COVID-19 vaccinations

Dear students, staff, and faculty,

Today, Queen’s University announced that it will require all students, staff, and faculty returning to campus to be vaccinated against COVID-19. Students, staff and faculty will need to be fully vaccinated or have a plan to do so, by September 7.

In planning for a safe return to campus, the health and safety of our campus and Kingston communities has been the university’s top priority. Ensuring high vaccination rates is the most effective way to mitigate a fourth wave and to best safeguard our anticipated full return to campus.

The decision to move to mandatory vaccinations was made on the advice of, and in consultation with, medical and public health experts. Individuals who have not been fully vaccinated - for medical or for reasons protected under the Ontario Human Rights Code - will be required to undertake additional health and safety protocols and COVID-19 testing as recommended by KFL&A Public Health.

An announcement has been shared with media, posted in the Gazette this morning, and has been shared on Queen’s and our Faculty’s social media channels. The announcement is also posted on the Safe Return to Campus website and FAQs will be added to this website, so please check it regularly for updates.

Sincerely,

Barbara Crow, PhD
Dean, Faculty of Arts and Science
