There is a facebook group for those of us who live on BBY Mountain and they can maybe ask about a room there. I did see someone offer one in the last couple of days.

Subject: Accommodation for a student in a precarious situation

Hi everyone,

We have a new graduate student (not my advisee) who has just arrived here from outside of Canada to pursue an MA in our dept. He’s been having a terrible time finding housing and is currently spending way more than he budgeted for in an Air BnB as he tries his best to find a more permanent rental.

I was wondering if any of you had leads that might help him? For example:

— A room or suite in your house that he could rent

— A housesitting arrangement

— A student (or former student) you know who is looking for a roommate

I will pass any tips along.
