Our Science is a grass-roots organization advocating for increased pay for graduate students and postdoctoral scholars in Canada. They represent tens of thousands of graduate students, postdoctoral scholars, and faculty in Canada, advocating for increased
funding and eliminating poverty wages for students on the front line of innovative and transformative research. WHAT:
Nation Wide Walkout WHEN: May
1st, 2023 TARGET: This
walkout is targeted toward the Federal government. This walkout will be supported by graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and principal investigators across Canada.
About 35 universities across Canada will be participating in this walkout. WHY: Requesting
for increased federal funding for graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and principal investigators through scholarships, fellowships, and Tri-council agency grants. Having increased funding will support better and increased research across the country. Most of the university research is supported by Tri-Council grants and fellowships.
Increasing the value of the scholarships/fellowships and increasing their number will help retain talented minds in research. SOCIAL MEDIA RESOURCE:
