Each group will present their posters on the above mentioned dates. The groups not presenting will be the judges in providing critique and feedback that will help the other groups to improve on their final report. Each Judging group will submit a sheet in writing with their feedback on the strengths and weaknesses of each poster.

Criteria for Judging

The student judges will simply provide feedback to their peers while the TA’s, and myself will be providing feedback as well as grading your posters.

Each judging group will go as a group to judge each poster and will make their comments on the feedback sheet that is at the end of this document. You may use more than one sheet if you like. Use this opportunity to help-out each other.

On the content

Each group must clearly identify the technology they are analyzing and provide some basics, introduction or overview, so that the reader can quickly understand the technology.

The various impacts, issues and considerations of this technology (positive and negative) on the a) Environment b) Society c) Economics d) Politics (and any other dimension as you see fit) must be clearly identified.

The technology must be compared with other competing technologies in order to educate the reader about its advantages and disadvantages.

Proposals must be made as to how you may mitigate some of the negative impacts and enhance the positive impacts and if we should promote or discourage this technology based on its overall impact.

On the presentation

Do not spend too much time on cosmetics as you will primarily be graded on the content, clarity and flow. Graphics, Tables, Charts etc may be used to make your presentation easier to follow. The poster must be easy to follow and all your findings and propositions must be clearly laid out.

The judges will use the above criteria to judge the posters and should also try and provide feedback on anything that was missing, inaccurate or misleading. Also, use this opportunity to educate yourselves on each of the technologies being presented.

Time

The first hour of the class will be spent judging each others’ posters. The presenters must be by their posters to answer any questions the judges may have.

The second half of the class will be in class where we will discuss the feedback reports the judges have created.

The posters must be set-up before the class starts so that we can start the judging process in time.
