Transportation

By Air:

Travellers by air should fly to the Vancouver International Airport (YVR) which is approximately a 1 hour and $50 cab ride to the conference hotels and to SFU. For those participants flying with Air Canada, the SSC would appreciate that you mention the special event number CV 160194 to your travel agent; there is no cost to you and the Society reaps some benefits.

By Car:

Those who drive to SFU should park in the Visitors Parkade. Upon exiting, if you identify yourself as belonging to SSC/WNAR/IMS 2001, you will be charged the discounted daily rate of $3.

Travellers by car from the east should take the Trans Canada Highway (#1) to the Gaglardi exit (which also says SFU). Go through the lights at Cariboo and also those at Lougheed Highway and proceed up the mountain to SFU. The Traffic and Security Office at the entrance can then give directions to parking, residences, lecture halls, etc.

Travellers by car from the south (US I5) should take exit 276 just before the US-Canada border at Blaine. Proceed east along D Street until you come to Hwy 543 where you turn left (north). Travel north on Hwy 543 one mile and cross the border. You will now be travelling north on Hwy 15 (176 St). Continue until you come to Hwy 1. Travel west on Hwy 1 until you come to the Gaglardi exit (which also says SFU). Go through the lights at Cariboo and also those at Lougheed Highway and proceed up the mountain to SFU. The Traffic and Security Office at the entrance can then give directions to parking, residences, lecture halls, etc.

Travellers by car from the airport should take the airport road (only road out), exiting at Marine Drive, travelling east. After 10 kilometres, turn left on Boundary Road. Proceed north on Boundary Road until the Hwy 1 East entrance. Continue on Hwy 1 to the Gaglardi exit (which also says SFU). Go through the lights at Cariboo and also those at Lougheed Highway and proceed up the mountain to SFU. The Traffic and Security Office at the entrance can then give directions to parking, residences, lecture halls, etc.
