Preface Preface

This collection contains submissions from the 2020 Math Catcher Festival. These submissions include stories, videos, graphic novels, PowerPoint presentations, etc.

The Math Catcher Festival is grounded in the values of seeing and recognizing that mathematics is very much a part of Indigenous culture embodying heart, body, mind and soul. Mathematics, as part of our everyday lives, helps us to solve real world problems and to make sense of the world around us. The Festival day was the culmination of the opportunity for students to use their imagination and creativity to illustrate their knowledge of mathematics and indigenous cultures and traditions by creating short stories which were playful and promoted kin and friendship in Indigenous settings.

The Math Catcher Festival was one of the many initiatives originated by the Math Catcher Outreach Program.
