Recent Trends in Graph Theory, Algebraic Combinatorics, and Graph Algorithms

GENERAL INFORMATION

The conference will take at Lake Bled, a beautiful vacation resort in Julian Alps in the North of Slovenia. It is only half an hour drive from the Ljubljana international airport as well as from borders with Austria and Italy. The conference site is Hotel Golf.

INVITED SPEAKERS

In addition to several Plenary Speakers (50 minute presentations), there will be sessions for Invited Speakers (30 minutes). Parallel sessions for Contributed Talks (20 minutes) are planned.


IMRICH DAY

The conference will honor contributions of Wilfried Imrich to the development of graph theory in Slovenia on the occasion of his 60th birthday.

The registration fee is 150 US dollars if received before July 31st, 2001 and 200 US dollars if received after July 31st, 2001. The fee for invited speakers and students is 50 US dollars if received before July 31st, 2001 and 60 US dollars if received after July 31st, 2001.

METHOD OF PAYMENT

The accomodation should be paid on-site directly to the hotel. They accept major credit cards, travelers cheques and cash.

To pay the registration fee, the following options are possible:

ARRIVAL AND ON-SITE REGISTRATION

The conference registration desk in Golf Hotel will be open on Sunday, September 23 from 6-8pm and on Monday from 8-9am.

All participants will get their conference materials upon arrival to Golf Hotel. The hotel is located close to the lake and is within walking distance from all main points in Bled.

THE SCIENTIFIC PROGRAM

The official program will start on Monday, September 24 at 9am and close on Thursday, September 27 in the afternoon.

The exact schedule of the talks will be distributed at the conference. It will also be available a few days before the conference through our WWW server and will be sent out to registered participants by email.

ABSTRACTS

Abstracts of talks should be submitted as soon as possible but not later than September 1st. They can be sent by standard mail, by email, or entered at the time of the registration (preferably in TeX format). No specific format is requested but make sure to include your (and your coauthors') name(s), affiliations and a brief description of your results. If possible, try to limit the length to one page.

SUBMITTING PAPERS FOR PROCEEDINGS

The conference proceedings will be published as a special issue or volume of Discussiones Mathematicae Graph Theory. The deadline for submissions of papers is September 27, 2001 (the end of the conference). They have to be sent in triplicate to the conference address given above or given to the organizers during the conference. We also accept manuscripts by email. The manuscripts should follow the general guidelines for manuscripts submitted to Discussiones Mathematicae Graph Theory. All papers will be refereed according to the usual standards of the journal.

SPECIAL EVENTS

HOTEL RESERVATION

A block of rooms will be reserved for the participants in a high class hotel (the conference venue). Exact location and prices will be given in the second announcement.

LOCAL CURRENCY, CLIMATE, ETC.

The Slovenian currency is called TOLAR. Its abbreviation is SIT (SlovenIan Tolar). The current exchange rate is approximately 110 SIT to one German mark or 240 SIT to a US dollar. The prices are generally comparable to the prices in the European Union.

The weather in September is usually quite pleasant. Average temperatures are between 10 and 20 degrees C, for more information see weather report.

Bled, is a very nice vacation resort with a beautiful lake and many interesting places to visit. There are many nice walks, hiking places, historic monuments (a nice castle), tennis courts, golf field, etc.
