The final test will take place on Monday, 27 July from 10:30 to 12:00 in WMC 3220.
The test consists of three parts. It will based on material covered from 17 June to 22 July, inclusive.
Part 1 consists of a series of short-answer questions that you will supply on the test paper. Some of these are multiple choice; others require you to fill in blanks by, for example, completing a sentence or listing information in point form.
Part 2 requires you to answer two questions in essay format. You will have choice. The questions will be based on those posted on the internet for readings assigned for 17 June to 22 July, inclusive or on major questions discussed in class. Each answer should be two or three paragraphs long. Superior answers will directly address the relevant question and provide succinct, precise, and accurate information.
Part 3 requires you to identify and explain in one or two paragraphs the historical significance of one quotiation from the primary source excerpts in Darnton's Great Cat Massacre. You will have choice. Your commentary on the quotation should begin by identifying, if possible, the author, title, and date of the work in which the quotation appears. You will explain the significance by relating the quotation to a major theme discussed in the relevant essay from The Great Cat Massacre. Superior answers will quote from or refer to specific passages from the quotation in support of an argument for the quotation's significance.
