June 17 : Instructions for printing fractals has been posted on the homework page (assignment #2). Also, if you cannot get the Fractal Pattern to run on your computer, you may instead use the Fractal Pattern applet; see the homework page (Question #4) for more information.

June 6 : The midterm test has been re-scheduled for Friday, July 6 (2 hours).


  • Topics for next week's seminar;
    • Read Freeman Dyson's quote about the significance of fractals I posted on the Weekly notes page (week 1).
    • Think of another shape other than a triangle or square where you can apply the 'remove successive pieces' algorithm to create a fractal.


    • May 11 : I've started posting a weekly notes page (Class Handouts, Weekly Notes; see the links below) which will contain references to topics covered in class and copies of handouts, figures.
