President's Dream Colloquium

The goal of the President's Dream Colloquium Series is to bring leading thinkers to SFU and provide an annual forum for intensive interdisciplinary exchange amongst faculty, students and the local community.

In Fall 2012, Dr. Nancy Forde, Physics, and Dr. Peter Unrau, Molecular Biology and Biochemistry, organized the first President's Dream Colloquium on the Emergence and Complexity of Life.

The guest speakers presented bold and interdisciplinary ideas which covered the origins of life, the emergence of complex biology, the rise of human consciousness and the search for life elsewhere in the universe. They discussed some of the fundamental questions of our time to audiences which included students and faculty members from across the university, and many members of the local community.

This website represents the work of the students in the first colloquium of this series.
