Accessing your Continuing Studies student account allows you to register for courses, apply to programs and check your grades and other details. If you’re having trouble logging in, please check the information below. 

How to reset your student account password

If you've lost your password or simply want to change it:

  1. Go to the Continuing Studies home page and click Student Account in the top right corner
  2. Click Reset Password
  3. Enter the email address associated with your SFU Continuing Studies student account and click Submit

  4. Within minutes, you should receive an email with the subject line: SFU Continuing Studies: Online Password Reset. Click the link provided in the email. It will open a new web page.
  5. You will need to enter your Secret Answer before you can create a new password. 
    Tip: Ensure you do not have auto-fill activated on your internet browser. If you notice the wrong password or secret answer automatically filled in, simply delete it and enter the correct information.

  6. Once your new password is created, go back to the student account login page. Enter your email address and new password and click Login

Frequently asked questions

What happens when I reset the password for my student account? 

Once you reset your password, you can log in to your student account using your existing email address and new password. If you also need to reset your password for Canvas, visit the Canvas login page.

Can I change my secret question/answer? 

To change your secret question/answer, please contact learn@sfu.ca for assistance. 

What is the difference between my Student Account login and my Canvas login? 

When you take a course or program with SFU Continuing Studies, you will use your email address to log in to both your student account and Canvas. You can choose to use the same or different password to log in to each account. 

Student account: used for applying to programs, registering in courses and checking your schedule, payment history, etc. 

If you need to reset your password, visit the Student Account login page.

Canvas: used for accessing course materials and participating in courses. 

If you need to reset your password, you can reset it from the Canvas login page (step-by-step instructions can also be found on our Technical Support page.)

I’m having trouble entering my new password/secret answer.

We recommend using a new “incognito” (private) web browser window. Also ensure your browser does not have autofill turned on. If you notice that the wrong email address or secret answer is displayed, simply delete it from the field and try again in incognito mode.

I’m still having issues with resetting my password. I need help!
