Maggi Bailey

Ms. Maggi Bailey is the Coordinator for the CIDA-funded projects: Adult Education for Economic Development (Thailand, Cambodia and Lao PDR) and Reducing HIV Stigma by Education (Ghana). Maggi is an award-winning media and distance education specialist. She graduated with a BA in International Relations from UBC in the late 1980s and then went on to travel, study, and live in Europe, Africa and Asia for the next ten years. In the early 1990s she settled back in Vancouver and began her career in education working for the Open Learning Agency, creating and managing distance education programs and specializing in educational media. During this time, Maggi completed her MA in Distance Education from the University of London, UK, by distance while working full-time. In the early 2000s she embarked on full-time work at home on her most challenging (and rewarding) assignment yet - parenting. Since 2006 Maggi has worked as a consultant in educational media and distance education, and at SFU as a media specialist in the Learning and Instructional Development Centre. In the summer of 2008 Maggi joined Continuing Studies to work where her passion lies - in international development. Here she uses her expertise in project management and instructional design to work with people in developing nations improve their access to quality education and training.
