Description
A part-time non-credit program that addresses the needs of professional technical writers in the high-tech industry in southern India. The SFU Writing and Publishing Program provides course materials and evaluates final assignments.
Beneficiaries
Southern India has experienced extreme growth in its high-tech industries, particularly in the cities of Chennai, Bangalore and Hyderabad, yet this region cannot readily find well-trained technical communicators to meet its needs. Industry, technical writers, and trainers will all benefit from this program.
Results
- Well-trained professional writers will raise the quality of documentation to standards such that local software companies can compete in the world market
- Employment and/or self-employment for professional writers by national and multi-national corporations
- An opportunity for technical writers to develop a local community for ongoing professional development and training
- Local high-tech industry will have a pool of qualified writers from which to draw
