The Lorne Davies Complex on Burnaby campus is slated to undergo renovation work starting in early 2023.

The complex, built in 1965 and extended in 1973, is home to the university’s pool, gyms and fitness centre, but the building needs seismic, ventilation, mechanical and plumbing upgrades.

The renovations will include updated change rooms, varsity team rooms, a refinished pool deck and a new wrestling training room within the original 1965 building. The central gym, west gym, fitness centre and stadium will not be included in this work and will remain open during the renovation.

Timelines and additional details will be shared in the new year, but the project will require closure of parts of the Lorne Davies Complex as this work is completed. Temporary or swing space will be constructed to ensure regular programming continues for Athletics and Recreation Services. While work on the swimming pool is conducted, the varsity swim team will be relocated to an off-campus pool within the City of Burnaby.

Lockers will be relocated to both the south and north sides of the Lorne Davies Complex during the renovations. More information about new locations for programs, change rooms and offices will be provided in the New Year.

Stay tuned for more updates. We’re excited to see these planned upgrades of the Lorne Davies complex take shape and thank our community in advance for your patience as we accommodate temporary changes in to enable this work to occur.
