A unique opportunity to meet one of the world's leading artists in the field of art in community; explore ideas, learn from successes and ask questions in dialogue with Liz Lerman. Ms. Lerman's ideas about the roles of art and culture in our rapidly changing world are deeply relevant; these are creative and integrative approaches, rooted in many years of experimentation and experience.
Ms. Lerman will preview excerpts from her upcoming new book entitled “Hiking the Horizontal” which explores Liz Lerman’s life-long exploration of dance as a vehicle for human insight and understanding of the world around us. The book touches on subjects of identity, politics, family and the application of art in fields as diverse as religion, science and law.
We welcome participants interested in the diverse field of art in community and social change, and how art practices enrich and inform every sector of our communities. This informal gathering is designed to nurture new connections, deepen perspectives and inspire actions.

About Liz Lerman
Liz Lerman is a choreographer, performer, writer, educator, and speaker. Described by the Washington Post as “the source of an epochal revolution in the scope and purposes of dance art,” her dance/theatre works have been seen throughout the United States and abroad. She founded Liz Lerman Dance Exchange in 1976 and has cultivated the company’s unique multi-generational ensemble into a leading force in contemporary dance. An interdisciplinary artist, dialogue-maker and visionary, Liz Lerman continues to influence and enrich the ways we think about the role of art in our lives.
