Undergraduate Semester in Dialogue
The Undergraduate Semester in Dialogue addresses three fundamental challenges in contemporary education:
- inspiring students with a sense of civic responsibility;
- encouraging their passion to improve society;
- developing innovative multidisciplinary tools for creative problem solving.
Each semester, the course focuses on one pressing public issue. In an intensive learning experience, the small group of students engages in dialogue activities with a broad range of experts and activists to formulate their own active responses to the topic. The semester is challenging and demanding, but students are rewarded with a sense of legitimate achievement and skills that will serve them in the future.
Minor in Dialogue
The SFU School of Communication offers the Minor in Dialogue, a concentration of courses which focus on the conceptual framework, technique, and practice of creating, sustaining, and evaluating dialogue. It is open to students with interests in many disciplines. The program highlights the relationship of dialogue with public issues, ranging from local to global.
