CITIZEN CONCERNS AROUND PIPELINE EXTENSION

June 01, 2014 - October 31, 2014

While the application to expand the Kinder Morgan was under review by the National Energy Board (NEB), the City of Vancouver wanted to explore the potential impacts and benefits to Vancouver residents of Kinder Morgan’s proposed pipeline, and to hear citizens’ concerns.

Through an Open Space process, participants pitched the topics that they felt were most important for the City to consider when preparing for the NEB hearings. In addition, questions that emerged from the dialogue were incorporated into the City of Vancouver’s presentation to the NEB.

During this time there was also a youth event where young Vancouverites (those 30ish and under) joined us at an “open space” forum to learn more about the Kinder Morgan Trans-Mountain Pipeline proposal and shared their views.

The final report details Vancouver citizen concerns regarding Kinder Morgan’s proposed Trans Mountain Pipeline expansion, which is currently before the National Energy Board. The SFU Centre for Dialogue convened Talking Tankers with the City of Vancouver.
