Where to Locate a New Pub in Burnaby

Data Collection

To begin with, I collected most of my data from various files in the Data Warehouse of the SIS Drive. Table 1 explains what files I started my project with, where I found them and the type of file, and finally how it contributed to my analysis.

Table 1.

In addition to collecting all my data, I had to import it into IDRISI in order to do my MCE. Prior to doing this, I made sure all files I originally used were pared down to the City of Burnaby. Selecting by attributes, locations, and doing multiple erase overlays were some fo the ways that I selected data only for Burnaby.

Furhtermore, I used Canadian Census data from 2006. I went into the files searching for data related to age, sex, and income. All data was manipulated in such a manner that I was able to derive the percentages of target ages, income, and sex ratios. To get the data needed for Burnaby, I did a simple series of queries for the City of Burnaby that I then exported as its own layer. Once I had all the appropriate data ready, I then imported it all to IDRISI Andes 15.0 for my final analysis
