Boolean Intersection:

After applying the Boolean Intersection aggregation method, a few locations meeting all criteria were met. The below image displays the possible locations for placement of the new towers and their new coverages overlapping the current coverage state. These locations met the criteria of: being within 10km of a prominent city centre, being at least 5km outside residential concentrated areas, being at least 2km outside recreational areas, being at least 2km outside of major roads, and being within previous coverage areas. The possible new locations were found near Ucluelet, Port Alberni and Duncan. Refer to the image below:

Weighted Linear Combination:

After applying the Weight Linear Combination aggregation method in Idrisi Kilimanjaro's Decision Wizard, the entire area of Vancouver Island was reclassified with relative suitability values, from a range of 0 to 255. The maximum suitability located was approximately 254 and was found at two locations, one near Port Hardy, and one near Ucluelet. These points are shown in the image below:

The possible new coverages of these towers are shown in the image below:

The location near Ucluelet was also in the Boolean Intersection end result. However the other locations of both the Boolean method and the WLC method differ. The reason for this would be the use of the weighted factors in my WLC analysis. Using such weighted factors allowed me to find a location to place a tower that obviously had strong pros outweighing the cons. The locations found in the Boolean method were not the most ideal in the WLC method. The reason for this would be the fact that there were no weighted factors in my Boolean method. In the WLC analysis, the factors that would of found the locations at Port Alberni and Duncan suitable were weighted less.

The location near Ucluelet appears to be the ideal placement option of the new cellular tower. It met the "all or none" criteria of boolean intersection, and after applying weighted factors, still achieved a high suitability value. This location encompasses a great abundance of recreational and tourism activities (refer to above image). It is also situated near a major road and close to two prominent cities, Ucluelet and Tofino. These two towns are the most popular locations on the west coast of Vancouver Island. Tourism is abundant in this area for boating, surfing and other recreational activities. This location is situated outside the residentially concentrated areas of Tofino and Ucluelet, so the constraint of residents disliking cellular towers is taken care of here.
