Ryan Metcalfe
B.Sc., B.Ed., M.Sc.

Ryan obtained his B.Sc. in Cognitive Science from Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario in 1999. He obtained his B.Ed. the following year and taught high school in Kingston until 2003. He received his M.Sc., under the supervision of Dr. Christine Mackenzie, in the summer of 2007. He has many research interests, including human-machine interaction, augmented and virtual realities, remote manipulation, multimodal perception and interfaces, human factors, and assistive devices for medical applications and special needs users. His hobbies include traveling, photography, camping, canoeing/kayaking, playing guitar, listening to Miles and Coltrane, surfing and trying to discover all that BC has to offer. He is currently conducting research in the lab and is a sessional instructor and teaching assistant in the department.
