Human capital and S&T activities:

This sub-theme will explore specific issues around the use of highly qualified personnel in innovation-intensive industries. We expect to use of 1996 census data so we can correlate occupational, geographic, training and salary data. The objective will be to measure the cost and value of intellectual capital used by different industries. The work on corporate genealogies will be an important input to the ongoing measurement of the human networks of actors in the regional system of innovation. We expect to draw conclusions relevant to policy, for example sectoral and geographic variations in the supply and intensity of use of human capital, which will inform about the fit between outputs of training institutions and the utilization of specialized human capital.
