COMMEMORATING INTERNATIONAL HOLOCAUST REMEMBRANCE DAY

Today, January 27, is International Holocaust Remembrance Day. In commemoration of the day, we remember the victims and survivors of the Holocaust.

Antisemitism is hate, and it is not acceptable at SFU. If you or someone you know is experiencing discrimination or hate, help is available. We encourage you to familiarize yourself with the available resources at SFU and to reach out for support if you need it.

REMINDER TO WEAR PROPERLY FITTED, THREE-LAYERED MASKS

MAKE YOUR VOICE HEARD ABOUT SFU'S PROPOSED MEDICAL SCHOOL

SFU is proposing a medical school that includes a three-way partnership with the First Nations Health Authority and the Fraser Health Authority to guide the vision and leverage expertise.

We hosted an online information session for Indigenous members of the SFU community on January 20, 2022. To follow up, we’re inviting SFU Indigenous faculty, staff and students to provide additional input, regardless of whether they attended the info session. Please complete the survey by Friday, February 4.

In order to ensure that Indigenous SFU community voices are prioritized in this survey, we ask that others refrain from completing it.

CELEBRATE MULTILINGUALISM AT SFU

According to the Fall 2020 Undergraduate Student Survey, 63 per cent of SFU students speak a language other than English at home. SFU faculty and staff also speak many languages in addition to English. That linguistic diversity is a strength worth celebrating—and that’s exactly what will happen during Celebrate Multilingual SFU week from February 7 to 11

Participate in this series of primarily virtual events and explore how multilingualism can be an asset in the classroom and beyond.
