SFU ARTSLIVE

SFU ArtsLIVE

SFU ArtsLIVE is an ongoing series of arts and cultural activations across a wide variety of unique spaces around SFU campuses. Through the arts and culture, we join together as a campus community to celebrate differences, engage in shared experience, and foster rich campus identity. ArtsLIVE is envisioned and built around three guiding values:

VIBRANT SPACES

As students, staff, and faculty return to SFU spaces there is an exceptional opportunity to reintroduce the campus experience as bright, alive, and welcoming. ArtsLIVE brings colour and renewed vitality to SFU spaces in a celebration of Indigenous and diverse creative voices, and serves as an integral part of reconnecting with one another now and for the future campus experience.

Vibrant Community

What is SFU ArtsLIVE?

SFU ArtsLIVE is an ongoing series of arts and cultural activations across a wide variety of unique spaces around SFU campuses. Through the arts and culture, we join together as a campus community to celebrate differences, engage in shared experience, and foster rich campus identity.

Vibrant Identity

Many Voices, Many Stories

SFU's equity, diversity and inclusion values will be featured throughout programming selection. Indigenous voices will be featured prominently; from hosting events, to sharing artistic work, to behind-the-scenes decision making. Through arts and culture, ArtsLIVE is an exceptional catalyst for the celebration of diverse voices across SFU's many communities.

ArtsLIVE is envisioned and built around four guiding values:

Creative Spaces

In giving prominent space to the arts on campus, we signal the value of creativity in a living and learning community. Healthy Campus, Healthy Minds - In filling campus spaces with the rich emotional experiences through the arts, we will create opportunities for accessible holistic care of the emotional and spiritual self.

Rich Communities

In celebrating and holding space for the rich diversity of voices we will create a space of abundance.

School Spirit & Campus Pride

In creating spaces that students, staff, faculty, and the greater public want to be a part of, we will anchor the SFU campus experience through unique and shared identity.

Creative Collaboration

ArtsLIVE is envisioned and produced as a pan-university initiative. Thus, it is essential that a wide range of departments across SFU are consulted in the planning and delivery of all ArtsLIVE activities.

ArtsLIVE has been produced by the Student Experience Initiative and SFU Woodward’s Cultural Programs, in close consult with SFU bodies including SFU Burnaby Community Vibrancy Plan – Ancillary Services, Simon Fraser Student Society, Department of Athletics and Recreation, Office for Aboriginal People, Ceremonies and Events Office, Communications & Marketing, Student Engagement & Retention, Facilities Services, and leaders across Burnaby, Surrey, and Vancouver campuses.

As a pan-university initiative we will continue to widen this circle and welcome opportunities for further interdepartmental collaboration.
