FORMER SFU PRESIDENT AMONG DISTINGUISHED HONORARY DEGREE RECIPIENTS THIS JUNE

Andrew Petter will receive an honorary Doctor of Laws from SFU during next week’s convocation ceremonies for his lifetime of contributions to the province in academia, law and politics, as well as his transformative impact on post-secondary education in B.C. Learn how the former president is finding where he can make the most positive contributions, even in retirement.

Learn how Nadine Attewell’s research examines the experiences of diasporic, multiracial and multicultural families in early 20th century British and British colonial port cities, like Hong Kong and Liverpool.

 

TESSA PERKINS DENEAULT WINS COMMUNITY CONTRIBUTION STAFF ACHIEVEMENT AWARD

A dedicated communicator, local arts advocate and graduate student, Perkins Deneault writes about dance and theatre and is a sitting board member for the Vancouver International Dance Festival. She is also working with the SFU Retiree’s Association on a book compiling the history of the arts at the university. Learn more about her collaborative work in FCAT, SFU and the local arts and culture community.

SNAP YOUR FAVOURITE VIEWS ON CAMPUS AND GET FEATURED

Join the monthly photo campaign, hosted by Creative Collective, to possibly win gift cards and have your photos printed on SFU Health and Counselling Services (HCS) postcards and bookmarks. All accepted submissions will be featured on HCS photo campaign gallery and may be used in HCS promotion.

SFU has successfully resumed on-campus activities and continues to follow a university-wide Communicable Disease Plan, which is based on Public Health Guidance for Post-Secondary Institutions and WorkSafeBC requirements. If you are feeling sick, please advise your supervisor and stay home.

INSTRUCTORS' BLENDED LEARNING PERSPECTIVES

June 2 | Hosted By Centre for Educational Excellence

Through a moderated panel discussion, you will hear from three instructors who will share stories about navigating the first delivery of their blended course during the spring semester. Participants will learn about first-hand experiences and offer insights into the redesign of student learning in SFU’s new blended format.The event will be offered in person and on Zoom.

 

FILM SCREENING: THREE WORKS BY ANNIE MACDONELL

June 4 | Hosted By SFU Galleries

Join an afternoon screening of three short films presented in conjunction with Annie MacDonell's solo exhibition, The Beyond Within, at the Audain Gallery. Two videos were made in collaboration with Paris-based artist Maïder Fortuné explore how pedagogical roles are destabilized by radical forms of intimacy and exchange.
